Meet Maia

My Background

My interest in healing began with a lifelong fascination for psychology, biology, and understanding why we think, feel, and behave the way we do.

I studied Zoology at university, where I developed a particular interest in physiology, disease, behaviour and the ways living systems respond to their environment. I went on to complete a Master's degree researching bacterial communities living on household plastics in marine environments, exploring their potential implications for environmental and human health. My research was subsequently published.

Since then, my work has continued to centre around wellbeing, care and understanding behaviour. I've worked in veterinary care, animal welfare and education, and I currently work in trauma-informed outdoor education with young people, supporting vulnerable young people through nature, challenge and outdoor experiences.

I think this background gives me a slightly different perspective on wellbeing—one that brings together my interest in science, behaviour, nervous system regulation, nature and human experience.

My Journey

My own experiences with anxiety, PTSD, chronic fatigue and nervous system dysregulation led me to explore a wide range of approaches to wellbeing.

While many helped me develop greater self-awareness, it was through EFT, Matrix Reimprinting and acupuncture that I began to explore the connection between the mind, body, emotions and our sense of safety.

Experiencing the impact these approaches had on my own wellbeing inspired me to train with Karl Dawson through EFTMRA as an EFT and Matrix Reimprinting Practitioner.

Why I Do This Work

I know what it is like to struggle with your wellbeing while feeling like you're searching for answers that don't quite explain the whole picture.

That's a big part of why I do this work. I want to create a calm, compassionate space where people can feel heard, understood and supported to explore their experiences without judgement.

My hope is to help people who feel stuck, overwhelmed or disconnected develop a deeper understanding of themselves and discover new possibilities for moving forward.

When I'm not working with clients, you'll usually find me somewhere outdoors.

I'm happiest around the sea and in nature, and I love surfing, sea swimming, rock climbing, snowboarding, mountaineering, camping, yoga, exploring new places with my camera and spending time with animals. I also love plant-based cooking and baking.

Nature and movement have always been a big part of my life, and I think there's something special about the way they can help us reconnect with ourselves.

"Feel the fear and do it anyway." has been a favourite phrase of mine for years. These days, I've learnt that feeling the fear doesn't always mean pushing through it. Sometimes it means getting curious about it, listening to what it's trying to tell us, and finding a way forward that feels safe enough to take the next step.
